-The following  facsimile list is of Creswick Apprentice Cutlers and their masters in Sheffield. 


There were apprentice cutlers elsewhere, notably in London and Bristol.  The "Bristol Apprentice Book" shows that Francis Creswick, son of Roger left home in 1598 to be apprenticed to Henry Hobson in Bristol. He took his brother Godfrey as apprentice in 1609, and Godfrey took Edward, son of Thomas of Wadsley in 1627, all in Bristol

Thomas CRESWICK for using 2 marks not his own on his knives contrary to article 7

 FINES for breaches of  Ordinance

 1731                                      William CRESWICK was amercied for smooking at the Green Cloath  6d.

1738                                      Richard CRESWICK  of Wadsley appeared 29 July charged with employing two women in the Trade which he confessed and ye Cornwall ordered him to bring his fine next meeting day28 Oct. He was fined 20s, but he being at present very poor and in bad health, the Cornwall returned him 19s.

 From 1625 Searchers were employed - 1622 “no wares were to be sold unless inspected ye searchers
